Certified Wildlife Gardens

Bergen County Audubon Society has installed and maintained several habitat restoration gardens in Northern New Jersey for more than 10 years. In an effort to continue that mission, we are introducing a new program that the community can take part in. Our new Certified Wildlife Garden program will allow homeowners, communities, schools, nature centers and others to have their gardens certified by Bergen County Audubon Society.

To apply for certification, fill out the attached application. Your garden should provide at least one item from each of the four categories listed to become certified.

  • Food
  • Water
  • Cover
  • Places to raise young

Certified gardens will be given a number and marked on a map to illustrate wildlife areas that have been created.

Upon completion and submission of your application it will be reviewed, and if approved, you will be awarded a certificate for your efforts. The certificate will be emailed to you free of charge. You may submit photos of your garden although not required for certification. A garden sign is available for pick up, contact Marie Longo MLongo8383@aol.com (201) 498-0809 if you are interested in receiving one.
